Melges Worlds at Key West

The 2001 Melges 24 Worlds, originally scheduled for Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Nov. 8 to 18, will now be held as a part of Terra Nova Trading/Yachting Key West Race Week, Jan. 21 to 25, 2002. A announcement by Premiere Racing of Marblehead, Mass., which runs Key West Race Week, was made today formalizing the arrangement.
Registration and measurement for the Worlds will start on Friday, Jan. 18, and a practice race will be run on Sunday, Jan. 20. Though the Melges 24s will be sharing a circle, mostly likely with just the J/105 class, a 10-race series, as opposed to the normal eight races sailors have come to expect at Key West, will be run for the Melges 24s. The Notice of Race should be available by mid-October
