The most exciting moment of every America’s Cup is the first race. At that moment no one has any idea which boat will be faster. This has been true since the first defense in New York Harbor in 1870. For the 34th time, the Cup will be run. This time the races take place on windy San Francisco Bay. The boats will be incredibly fast catamarans that are able to attain speed of 50 knots! NBC will broadcast two races each day on Saturday and Sunday, LIVE at 4 p.m Eastern time.

Can business titan Larry Ellison successfully defend the Cup in his home waters? The patriotically-driven team from New Zealand would like to take the Cup back to their waters. This will be an extremely emotional best-of-17 race series. Todd Harris, Gary Jobson, and Ken Read will explain the action. Seven cameras onboard each boat, microphones, aerial images, water view cameras, and groundbreaking LiveLine graphics will show the viewer every moment of this very special yacht race.

Additional races will be broadcast LIVE on the NBC Sports Network on cable on September 10, 12, 14, 15, and until one team wins 9 races.
