Winner’s Debrief: Skip Shumway at the Marblehead NOOD

2013 Sperry-Top Sider Marblehead NOOD Regatta winner Skip Shumway took the Sonar class title and the overall trophy. We checked in with him after a long, brain-bending day on the water.

Skip Shumway, of Shumway Marine, was named the Overall Winner at the 2013 Marblehead NOOD racing his Sonar named Beat Dawn S. Skip lives and sails out of Rochester NY typically on a Sonar and an Ideal 18, however he can also be seen sailing C&C 35, Etchells and J/24s.

Skip has raced with most of his crew for over twenty years, and has raced with his buddy Doug for over 40 years. He now spends a lot of his time doing race committee and encouraging his wife and son to compete as skippers. Skip will be in the Caribbean with his posse, and is most looking forward to the rum parties and the chance to play in the BVIs.
